The other day I was sitting out in the hall by the NICU while the nurses had their shift change (all parents have to leave during shift change for privacy because the old nurses tell the new ones all about the babies and they don’t want parents hearing about other peoples’ babies).

I saw a couple leaving labor & delivery with their new baby – presumably on their way home – and had a momentary stab of pain over how unfair it seemed. Even for others in the NICU….Bailey’s isolette is right next to the bassinets (bassinets are the last step before being discharged). Our girls haven’t “graduated” to bassinets yet. So we have a roommate, then they get better and leave. Repeat.

I know our girls will get there eventually. But it all seems incredibly unfair sometimes.
