How much preparation is too much preparation?

Because I spent about 90 minutes this past weekend watching birthing videos of all kinds – hospital, home births, planned and “surprise” (i.e., when the baby came before expected….not that they didn’t know they were pregnant). I watched videos filmed by spouses and loved ones and videos filmed by medical professionals, intended to be informational.

All I know is that even when they edit the crap out of it, add the peaceful, relaxing music, and cut the labor down to 5 minutes (from the actual 15 hours), it STILL scared the $hiz out of me.

Is it too late to hire a surrogate? : )

Where’s the line between wanting to “be prepared” and having information overload that unnecessarily freaks you out? Yikes!!!
